Claudia McCarron, a partner at Mullen Coughlin, is a member of the Data Privacy & Network Security Practice and also serves as the firm’s General Counsel. Ms. McCarron currently represents data privacy clients in class actions and other data privacy-related litigation, as well as before regulatory bodies. Her class action experience has involved the defense of actions in multiple federal circuits and states in cases arising under common law, unfair trade practices legislation and data privacy statutes. The clients that she has represented include financial institutions, health care providers, insurance industry members, and other commercial entities. Ms. McCarron also advises clients on assessing and allocating risks, rights and obligations in contractual relationships as they pertain to data security to maximize protection in the event of a data security incident.

In over thirty years as an attorney, Ms. McCarron has developed extensive litigation experience in the federal and state courts throughout the country. After graduating in the top 5% of her law school class, Ms. McCarron began her career as law clerk to the late Honorable Daniel H. Huyett, 3rd of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Entering private practice, she represented clients in litigation arising from toxic torts, catastrophic fires and products liability. In addition to liability cases, Ms. McCarron represented numerous carriers in coverage and extracontractual liability matters. Having served as General Counsel to two law firms, she finds that experience informs her understanding of her client’s litigation management concerns.
